Workhop BIØN: Design and Build with Poured Earth

Nesta edição do BIØN, dividida em 3 blocos temáticos, vai-se experimentar e aprender, na primeira semana, as bases da construção em terra através de testes empíricos e laboratoriais, através dos quais se aprofundam na técnica de terra vertida. Na segunda e terceira semana vai-se fazer protótipos de diferentes misturas com diferentes solos e experimentar com cofragem inovadora em grandes protótipos, permitindo que os grupos melhorem de uma semana para a outra. Durante a quarta semana o objectivo é construir um espaço de armazenamento no Laboratório de Protótipos de Terra 1:1.A formação prática no local de construção será complementada por sessões teóricas, visitas e palestras convidadas, nas quais aprenderemos mais em pormenor sobre os seguintes tópicos:- Construir com Terra
– Testes empíricos e laboratoriais
– Princípios da Terra Vertida
– Cofragem para Terra Vertida

Workhop BIØN: Design and Build with Poured Earth

The workshop will be a 20% theoretical – 80% practical training of 4 weeks, divided in three thematic blocks.During the first week we will experiment and learn the basics of earth building through empiric and laboratory tests, through which go deep into the poured earth technique. In the second and third weeks we will prototype different mixtures with different soils and experiment with innovative formwork in large prototypes, allowing the groups to improve from one week to the other. During the fourth week we will build a storage space at the Earth Laboratory prototyping 1:1.
The hands-on training on the building site will be complemented by theoretical sessions, visits and invited lectures in which we will learn more in detail about the following topics:

– Empiric and Laboratory Tests
– Principles of Poured Earth
– Formwork for Poured Earth
